Business Challenge

Maya is a SaaS product developed by Crayon Data, a Chennai based software company working in the space of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. There was an imminent need to empower banks with a scalable analytical tool to collate and interpret customers’ transaction data without dependency on an external agency.

Crayon Data contacted Twist Open UX to design this financial product; one that was going to transform how banks understood their customers in order to create customized campaigns for them.

Product Positioning

Our initial interaction with the management at Crayon Data, gave us insights into what the client was trying to achieve by way of this product. Through our in-depth analysis of existing data we formulated three base principles with regard to customer behaviour: Discover - Act - Expand. This key business intervention set the foundation for the design and development of Maya.

Interplay between Studios

The Discover - Act - Expand principles helped define and brand the three products that make up Maya: Taste Studio, Engage Studio and Commerce Studio. Taste Studio maps customer transaction history, Engage Studio helps banks customize engagement based on transaction history and Commerce Studio is a marketplace that provides visibility of vendor offers that banks can leverage. Each of these studios has a distinct function and the information architecture was developed to interlink the three independent products.

Data - Visualization

What makes this project special is the dynamic graphical representation of data; they provide an accessible way to visualize and quantify aspects like available opportunities or selected demographics and categories. It has simplified how information can be consumed by the user. From a branding perspective, Crayon Data wanted Maya to have a fresh, new and modern feel, that was different from traditional financial services. Keeping this in mind we played with a meaningful colour palette for each studio while working within the brand guidelines.
